How to make an update in the Controller with a unique 'email' field in Laravel?

Hope that helps I am trying to create an update of my CRUD of users, but I am passing in the "edit" view the value of the email within this input, now ... when I try to update I cannot do it because it has an email request unique: users. , you can send old_email hidden type
 if($request->get('email') != $request->get('old_email')){
   $this->validate($request,[
            'email' => 'unique:users',
        ]);
 }

How to make a Restful Password Reminder and change User email field to username field with Laravel 5.0?

I hope this helps . Setting a getEmailForPasswordReset method on User model solves the problem:
<?php
public function getEmailForPasswordReset() {
    return $this->username;
}
<?php namespace Reverse\Http\Controllers\Auth;

use Illuminate\Http\Request;
use Reverse\Http\Controllers\Controller;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Guard;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\PasswordBroker;
use Illuminate\Foundation\Auth\ResetsPasswords;

class PasswordController extends Controller {

    /*

    | Password Reset Controller
    |--------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |
    | This controller is responsible for handling password reset requests
    | and uses a simple trait to include this behavior. You're free to
    | explore this trait and override any methods you wish to tweak.
    |
    */

    use ResetsPasswords;

    /**
     * Create a new password controller instance.
     *
     * @param  \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Guard  $auth
     * @param  \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\PasswordBroker  $passwords
     * @return void
     */
    public function __construct(Guard $auth, PasswordBroker $passwords)
    {
        $this->auth = $auth;
        $this->passwords = $passwords;

        // With this, when logged says: "You're logged!" and not send the email token
        //$this->middleware('guest');
    }

Laravel 5.3 - Unique field enforces rule on update

I wish did fix the issue. Try making your single quotes, double quotes. If you're using single quotes it will not recognize the $this->client_uid as php.
'company_name' => "required|unique:clients,company_name,{$this->client_uid},client_uid"
'company_name' => 'required|unique:clients,company_name,'.$this->client_uid.',client_uid'

Validate unique email on update, ignoring self email. On Laravel 5

Does that help Passing $u->email isn't quite right for the unique rule. The signature is
unique:{table},{column},{value_to_ignore},{column_to_ignore}
unique:users,email,'.$u->email
$u = User::find($id);
$rules = [
    "email" => "required|email|max:128|unique:users,email,".$u->id.",id",
    ...
];

How to update unique field in Laravel collective?

I think the issue was by ths following , If the user only changes the name field and not the e-mail field, you do not want a validation error to be thrown because the user is already the owner of the e-mail address.
you can use like:
'email' => [
        'required',
        Rule::unique('users')->ignore($user->id),
],

Laravel 5 Update Validation email needs to be unique

Hope that helps I'm trying to update a user, as an admin. , You are missing a comma after the email label in your validation:
return [
    'name' => 'required|string',
    'username' => 'required',
    'email' => 'required|email|unique:users,email,'.$user_id,
    'gender' => 'required',
    'phone' => 'sometimes|numeric',
    'address' => 'sometimes|string',
    'country_id' => 'required',
];
use Illuminate\Validation\Rule;

return [
    'email' => [
        'required',
        Rule::unique('users', 'email')->except($user_id),
    ]
];
