wish of those help Problem I have found is window.load may fired before DOM element created, you can remove html,body css but that will give some margin to html,body, that should be handle in javascript if you don't want to use the css, #left css rule is used only to understand the div height

Thirumalai-Window size

           html,body{margin: 0px;}

        //
            function resize()
                var heights = window.innerHeight;
                document.getElementById("left").style.height = heights + "px";
            window.onresize = function() {

Why doesn't the window resize to the correct height?

wish help you to fix your issue The problem was in my calculation and misunderstanding how window.resizeTo() works.
The size that window.resizeTo() sizes to includes the chrome(scrollbars, address bar,favourites bar, etc)! Once I added some "padding" to include that, it worked as expected.

Hope that helps I ended up saving the old width value every time a browser resize event happened. Code looks like:
var initialWidth = window.innerWidth;

window.addEventListener("resize", function(){
    // Do something with 'initialWidth'
    initialWidth = window.innerWidth;

html, body
    margin: 0px; padding: 0px
