Hope that helps In order to make it so your excel document isn't stuck open and returning the error about "file in use by another process", you need to close it in your code.
Try closing your work book and then application. This should release your excel document. Add the following to the end of your method: oWB.Close(0); then oXL.Quit();
Excel.Application oXL = new Excel.Application();
Excel.Workbook oWB = oXL.Workbooks.Open(xlsmfilePath, ... Missing Values ...);
...
// Code for altering workbook
... 
oWB.Close(0);
oXL.Quit();

it helps some times I've found that when there is a lot in my Recycle Bin (1000s of files), it takes longer to delete a file in Windows Explorer as well as Visual Studio.

Any of those help Yep. It was something obvious.
You can't delete files from the Solution while it is building.

Simply click save in Excel after loading the app from the insert menu.
