populating sql variable with select statement works but if i put that same statement in variable and try exec() it doesn

it helps some times you need to use sp_executeSQL with an output parameter
See example here at the bottom Changing exec to sp_executesql doesn't provide any benefit if you are not using parameters correctly
declare @sqlstr Nvarchar(200)
DECLARE @num_records int
set @sqlstr = '( select  distinct @num_records =  count(*)
                  from dbo.tbllookup  )'
EXEC SP_EXECUTESQL @sqlstr, N'@num_records INT OUTPUT', @num_records OUTPUT

print @num_records

Executing a SQL statement inside a stored procedure, how to store the result of that SQL statement into a variable for l

will help you i need to execute several SQL statements inside an stored procedure, save the result into a variable for later use. , I think that what you want.
  SET NOCOUNT OFF
  DECLARE @P as CHAR(6)
  SELECT p@ = d.Periodo from [SISACT].DEPRECIACIONES d, [SISACT].CONTROL_PERIODO c where c.vigente = 1 AND d.Periodo = c.periodo
  IF @@ROWCOUNT > 0
     PRINT 'Periodo ya depreciado'
UPDATE [SISACT].ACTIVOS_FIJOS set ultimo_periodo = @p

R: ifelse statement to create new variable equal to value of second variable conditional on value of third variable

I wish did fix the issue. I'm trying to create a new variable (NPHOURS) the value of which will be the value of a second variable (HOURS) conditioned on the value of a third variable (PROD) being equal to "N", otherwise I want the value of (NPHOURS) to be "0".
str(samp$PROD)
samp$NPHOURS <- ifelse(samp$PROD == "N ", samp$HOURS, 0)

How to setup if-statement with multiple conditions, which uses the valid condition's variable in the if-statement?

I hope this helps . Okay, that title will sound a bit crazy. I have an object, which I build from a bunch of inputs (from the user). I set them according to their value received, but sometimes they are not set at all, which makes them null. What I really want to do, it make an item generator for WoW. The items can have multiple attributes, which all look the same to the user. Here is my example:
if(['agility','stamina','dodge'].indexOf(property) !== -1){
   text = "+" + text + " " + property;
}
if(['agility','stamina','dodge'].indexOf(property) !== -1){
   text = "+" + text + " " + property.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + property.substr(1);
}
var myatts = [
   'agility',
   'stamina',
   'dodge'
];
if(myatts.indexOf(property) !== -1){
   text = "+" + text + " " + property.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + property.substr(1);
}
var item = {};
item.attribute = {
   agility:100,
   stamina:200,
   dodge:300
};
var property = "agility";
var text = "";
if(Object.keys(item.attribute).indexOf(property) !== -1){
   if(item.attribute.hasOwnProperty(property)){
      text = "+" + text + " " + property.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + property.substr(1);
   }
}
var item = {};
item.attribute = {
   agility:100,
   stamina:200,
   dodge:300
};
+ 100 Agility + 200 Stamina + 300 Dodge
var text = "";
for(var property in item.attribute){
    if(item.attribute.hasOwnProperty(property)){
        if(text.length > 0) text += " ";
        text += "+ " + item.attribute[property] + " " + property.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + property.substr(1);
    }
}
