Bind Dependency Property, defined in Code-Behind, through Xaml to a Property in the DataContext of a UserControl

this will help If I understood everything correctly then what you need is a standard MVVM scenario and standard bindings.
It can be done either like this:
<local:TestControl TestObject="{Binding PropertyOfViewModel}">
    <Binding Path="PropertyOfViewModel"/>
    Background="{StaticResource WindowBackgroundBrush}"
    mc:Ignorable="d"  d:DesignWidth="320" d:DesignHeight="145"
    MaxHeight="145" MinHeight="145">

            <VisualState x:Name="Show">
                            Duration="0:0:1" />

            <VisualState x:Name="Hide">
                        Duration="0:0:1" />

            <ScaleTransform ScaleY="1" />
            <Binding Path="IsInInputMode"/>

        Style="{DynamicResource CalloutLabel}"
        VerticalAlignment="Top" Content="Company Name (Name of Organizational Unit)"/>

    <TextBox Height="23" Margin="12,41,12,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" TabIndex="1" />

        Style="{DynamicResource LightButton}"
        Height="23" Width="75"

        Style="{DynamicResource LightButton}"
        Height="23" Width="75"
        Command="{Binding Cancel}"

    <CheckBox Content="Make Groups" Height="16" IsChecked="True" FlowDirection="RightToLeft" Margin="150,79,12,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" TabIndex="2" />

    <Rectangle Fill="{DynamicResource HeaderBarFill}" Height="5" Margin="0,0,0,0" Stroke="{x:Null}" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" />

around this issue I have a wpf application where I extended the RichTextBox to provide some specific functions. Lets call that new class BetterTextBox. , Just solved by doing
<BetterTextBox PressedOffset="{Binding Path=Parent.DataContext.SelectFromOffset,
      RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}"/>

Why does a Kivy property declared in init() generate an error when bind() is used?

I believe declaring (assigning) an attribute at class level out of any method and doing the same in __init__() were equivalent.

How to bind TextBox.Text according to a string property that provides the name of the property I want to bind to?

it helps some times You'll be creating the binding in code behind. PropertyToBind should be a dependency property, since it's a property of a UI element and you may want to bind it. We'll also rename it to PropertyPath, because that's consistent with how similar properties such as ListBox.SelectedValuePath are named in the WPF framework.
Here's the XAML. Grid.Row and Grid.Column index from 0, not 1. You don't need them anyway, because you didn't define any rows or columns in your Grid (if this is a partial example and you simply omitted the row/column definitions, disregard those remarks).
        Margin="0, 5, 10, 5"
        Style="{StaticResource TextBoxInError}"
public partial class IntTextBox : UserControl
    public IntTextBox()

    public String PropertyPath
        get { return (String)GetValue(PropertyPathProperty); }
        set { SetValue(PropertyPathProperty, value); }

    public static readonly DependencyProperty PropertyPathProperty =
        DependencyProperty.Register(nameof(PropertyPath), typeof(String),
            new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(PropertyPath_PropertyChanged));

    protected static void PropertyPath_PropertyChanged(DependencyObject d,
        DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e)
        var ctl = d as IntTextBox;

        var binding = new Binding(ctl.PropertyPath)
            ValidationRules = { new IntRule() },

            // Optional. With this, the bound property will be updated and validation
            // will be applied on every keystroke. Fine for integers. For doubles
            // or phone numbers, it'll drive your users up the wall.
            UpdateSourceTrigger = UpdateSourceTrigger.PropertyChanged

        ctl.IntBox.SetBinding(TextBox.TextProperty, binding);
