$new_array = array_intersect_key($your_array,  /* main array*/
                    array_flip( /* to be extracted */
                      array('nickname', 'first_name','last_name')

records = [
  {:age=>28, :name=>"John", :id=>1},
  {:name=>"David", :age=>20, :id=>2, :sex=>"male"}
]

attributes = [:id, :name, :age]
records.map do |record|
  attributes.map { |attr| record[attr] }
end

Flip key/value pairs from an existing array into an associate array which allows for keys with multiple values in PHP

will help you I need to basically flip an existing associate array into another associate array. It needs to contain the keys from the previous array as values and the values of the previous array as keys. Also, it needs to be able to contain multiple values for a single key. , You didn't show an attempt but I'm bored:
foreach($array as $key => $val) {
    $result[$val][] = $key;
}

Lodash create new array from selected keys

I hope this helps . If you have an object you could use _.pick method and return a new object with specific properties.
const obj = {notes: "", name: "John", gender: "M", dob: "", age: "33", nationality: "British", notes2: "no notes", notes3: "no notes"}
const notes = _.pick(obj, ['notes', 'notes2', 'notes3']);
console.log(notes)
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/lodash.js/4.17.10/lodash.js"></script>

Sort and group an array of objects by two keys and create array of grouped items with new keys

I think the issue was by ths following , I have the following array: , You can use reduce function like:
const items = [
  { name: 'john', class: 'one', section: 'a' },
  { name: 'john2', class: 'one', section: 'b' },
  { name: 'john3', class: 'one', section: 'a' },
  { name: 'john4', class: 'two', section: 'a' },
  { name: 'john5', class: 'two', section: 'b' },
  { name: 'john6', class: 'two', section: 'b' },
  { name: 'john7', class: 'three', section: 'a' },
  { name: 'john8', class: 'four', section: 'a' },
  { name: 'john9', class: 'four', section: 'b' }
];

const groupedItems = items.reduce((result, current) => {
  const key = current.class + current.section.toUpperCase();

  if (Array.isArray(result[key])) {
    result[key].push(current);
  } else {
    result[key] = [current];
  }

  return result;
}, {});

const expectedResult = Array.from(Object.keys(groupedItems), (elem) => ({[elem]: groupedItems[elem]}));

console.log(expectedResult);
