wish of those help I'm doing some kind of screen keyboard where you click in some shapes and letters are written on a textarea. However I want it to work with the physical keyboard as well. , You can see that it's one keypress behind, use keyup:
$('#text').keyup(function(e) {
    var character = String.fromCharCode(e.which);

Does textbox save an all number text as a long or string?

Does that help TextBox.Text keeps the text as a simple string, it doesn't care about the real "meaning" of the string.
Then, if you want to have your number back, you need to parse the string, hence neither implicit nor explicit cast to int is allowed (or better, it will throw an exception if you do it...).
int numBytes = Encoding.Unicode.GetByteCount(stringToMeasure);

Hope that helps As you suggested: subscribe to UIElement.LostFocus Event or Keyboard.LostKeyboardFocus Attached Event of your TextBox and do the save there.
private void commentBox_LostFocus(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
private void commentBox_LostKeyboardFocus(object sender, KeyboardFocusChangedEventArgs e)
