Difference Between Variable and Identifier

hop of those help? Every variable has a name, which is an identifier. Likewise every class has a name, which is also an identifier - as is a method name, and a package name. There are restrictions on what an identifier can look like - for example, it can't start with a number, or include whitespace.
So for example, in this program:
public class Test {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        int x = 0;
        System.out.println(x);
    }
}
public void method1() {
    String x = "";
    System.out.println(x);
}

public void method1() {
    int x = 0;
    System.out.println(x);
}

difference between free-identifier=? and bound-identifier=?

This might help you Trying to understand free-identifier=? and bound-identifier=?. Can anyone give me equivalent code examples where using free-identifier=? would return true and using bound-identifier=? would return false. , Here's an example:
(define-syntax (compare-with-x stx)
  (syntax-case stx ()
    [(_ x-in)
     (with-syntax ([free=? (free-identifier=? #'x-in #'x)]
                   [bound=? (bound-identifier=? #'x-in #'x)])
       #'(list free=? bound=?))]))

(define-syntax go
  (syntax-rules ()
    [(go) (compare-with-x x)]))

(go) ;; => '(#t #f)
(define-syntax (compare-xs stx)
  (syntax-case stx ()
    [(_ x1 x2)
     (with-syntax ([free=? (free-identifier=? #'x2 #'x2)]
                   [bound=? (bound-identifier=? #'x1 #'x2)])
       #'(list free=? bound=?))]))

(define-syntax go2
  (syntax-rules ()
    [(go2 x-in) (compare-xs x-in x)]))

(go2 x) ;; => '(#t #f)

How can I tell the difference between some identifier and a variable declaration?

hope this fix your issue I've had to do something of this flavor for a class, about 4 years ago. Although I don't remember all the details of the "official" way to do it, but
What I would do, is I would look ahead, at the future symbols to determine whether or not it's a variable declaration, so as Benjamin Gruenbaum said, if you see a legal identifier(at the beginning of a line) followed by another legal identifier, than the first one is probably a variable declaration.

Difference between identifier and variable (in JavaScript)

may help you . The difference between identifiers and variables is the same as that between names and people.
Names identify people. They can also identify dogs, for example. Names are not people, nor are people names. But you can say that I am Amadan (since saying that I am identified by the name Amadan sounds clunky).
var a = 1;         // assign a value
var b = [2, 3, 4]; // assign a reference
var aa = a; // copy the contents
var bb = b; // copy the contents
b.push(5);
console.log(b);
// => [2, 3, 4, 5]
console.log(bb);
// => [2, 3, 4, 5]
function hello(name) {
  console.log("Hello, " + name);
}
var hello = function(name) {
  console.log("Hello, " + name);
}
