Check variables through a loop

it helps some times I can't seem to figure out how to loop a variable check. What I am trying to do is something like checking those two variables but in a loop , Your first line will lead to warnings if the variables are not set:
$variables = array($_GET['action'], $check);    // here you are possibly using unset variables
$action = isset($_GET['action']) ? $_GET['action'] : NULL;
$check = isset($check) ? $check : NULL;

around this issue You don't have to use two separate queries here, you can do everything in just one single query.
SELECT name
FROM terms
WHERE term_id IN (
    SELECT term_id
    FROM term_taxonomy
    WHERE taxonomy = '$input'
)
function post_category_isset(){
    global $connect;

    $input = sanitize('category');
    $query = mysqli_query($connect, "SELECT name FROM terms WHERE term_id IN (SELECT term_id FROM term_taxonomy WHERE taxonomy = '$input')");
    while ($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($query)) {
        $value = $row['name'];
        if (isset($_POST[$value])) {
            // your code
        }
}

may help you . As the comments say, use the modulo operator. Specifically for your example code:
$i = 0;
while ($timeline = $fetchtimeline->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) {
    $i++;
    if ($i % 2 === 0) {
        // add your class here
    }
}

How to efficiently check for variables in a for loop

around this issue Better than having many if statements, and also more efficient that calling on append multiple times.
variables = set(map(str, [sameDay, threeDayAgo, weekAgo...]))

def check_variables(lines):
    for line in lines:
        if line in variables:
            yield line
