Hope that helps I want to accept variables from the standard input but I dont want to define how many variables I am accepting so that the user could submit two or three variables. ,
Is scanf the proper way to do this or is there a better method?
int n = scanf("%c" SPACE_FORMAT "%s" SPACE_FORMAT "%s", &key, name1, name2);

I wish this help you Here is solution I wint with. My fault I was not decreasing the $orderQuantity each time in looping.
$orderProducts = OrderDetail::whereOrderListsId( $deliveryList->order_lists_id )->get();

foreach ( $orderProducts as $order_product ) {
    //This the quantity in order details.
    $orderQuantity = $order_product->quantity;
    //Here we selected the oldest expire date of the same product in the inventory.
    $currentInventors = Inventory::whereProductId( $order_product->product_id )->get()->sortBy( 'expire_date' );
    if ( $currentInventors != null ) {
        foreach ( $currentInventors as $currentInventory ) {
            $takeQuantity = $currentInventory->inventory - $orderQuantity;
            if ( $currentInventory->inventory >= $orderQuantity ) {
                Inventory::whereId( $currentInventory->id )->update( [ 'inventory' => $takeQuantity ] );
            } else {
                $orderQuantity = $orderQuantity - $currentInventory->inventory;
                Inventory::whereId( $currentInventory->id )->update( [ 'inventory' => 0 ] );

Order an array while the user inputs the value of each array position

fixed the issue. Will look into that further To keep the array sorted, you should do a (partial) insertion sort for every input number.
Just reminding you of the algorithm of insertion sort, it does the following for the i-th iteration:
    int i, j, k;
    int number;
    for (i = 0; i < size; i = i + 1)
        printf("Give me the number #%d to add to the list: ", i + 1);
        while (!scanf("%d", &list[i]))
            while (getchar() != '\n')
            printf("You can't use chars!.\n");
            printf("Give me the number #%d to add to the list: ", i + 1);
        number = list[i];

        /* Here's the point! Shift all numbers bigger than *number* to the back. */
        for (j = i; j > 0 && number < list[j - 1]; j--)
            list[j] = list[j - 1];
        list[j] = number;
    for (i = 0; i < size; i = i + 1)
        printf("%d,", list[i]);
