Why use a singleton instead of static methods?

should help you out Often, singletons are used to introduce some kind of global state to an application. (More often than really necessary, to be honest, but that's a topic for another time.)
However, there are a few corner cases where even a stateless singleton can be useful:

C++ Singleton Vs static methods

Hope that helps A singleton gives you control over when the class is instantiated and as DeadMG points out if you want to instantiate it. A static class is less controllable and is instantiated before main is called.
The sequence in which classes is instantiated can sometimes be critical when the singleton depends on some other class or resource which is not avaiable before main is called.

Singleton v/s class with static members & methods in Java

hope this fix your issue Collections.emptySet() is a typical example of a singleton that can't be implemented as a static class since, obviously, its goal is to be an instance of the java.util.Set interface. It's not costly to create, but it would be stupid to create a new instance each time an empty set is needed, since the unique instance can be reused.

Using Java singleton pattern (static access to the singleton) with Spring

Hope this helps Accessing a Spring bean from a static context is problematic because the initialization of beans isn't tied to their construction, and Spring may instrument injected beans by wrapping them in proxies; simply passing around references to this will often result in unexpected behaviour. It's best to rely on Spring's injection mechanism.
If you really have to do it (perhaps because you need access from legacy code), use something like this:
@Service
public class A implements ApplicationContextAware {

    private static final AtomicReference<A> singleton;
    private static final CountDownLatch latch = new CountDownLatch(1);

    @Resource
    private MyInjectedBean myBean; // inject stuff...

    public static A getInstance() {
        try {
            if (latch.await(1, TimeUnit.MINUTES)) {
                return singleton.get();
            }
        } catch (InterruptedException e) {
            Thread.currentThread().interrupt();
        }
        throw new IllegalStateException("Application Context not initialized");
    }

    @Override
    public void setApplicationContext(ApplicationContext context) {
        singleton.set(context.getBean(A.class));
        latch.countDown();
    }
}

may help you . If you are accessing instance then use second option
ClassicSingleton mySingleton = ClassicSingleton.getInstance(); mySingleton.initialize("id",0.0,"data");
