Is there a jQuery plugin that will allow for shuffling of columns of divs?

To fix this issue Sorry I have not got the margins right yet, but you might want to try something like this using absolute positioning, changed on the fly (on a column basis):
JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/TrueBlueAussie/dYnLn/5/
/* layout a single column based on element heights */
function layoutColumn(col) {
    var top = 0;
    $('.row').each(function () {
        var $row = $(this);
        var left = 0;
        var $cell = $row.children().eq(col);
                top: top
        top = top + $cell.outerHeight() + ~~$cell.css("margin-top");

/* layout the columns horizontal positions */
var top = 0;
$('.row').each(function () {
    var $row = $(this);
    var left = 0;
    /* set the horizontal positions */
    $row.children('.element').each(function () {
        var $cell = $(this);
            left: left
        left += $cell.outerWidth() + ~~$cell.css('margin-left');
    top = top + $row.outerHeight();

/* Layout all the columns */
for (var col = 0; col < $('.row').first().children().length; col++)

$('.element').on('mouseenter', function(){
}).on('mouseleave', function(){

shuffling classes of two divs

will be helpful for those in need You were pointing to the parent of the span tag (the one you set the event listener on), wich was the a tag. You wanted to reach the parent of the a tag...
So you want to get the parent of the parent of the element that was clicked:
$('.entity_table').on('click', '.add_field', function(events){

   var $pane1 = $(this).parent().parent(); // store the jquery element for performance and readability matter
   $pane1.removeClass('display').addClass('hide'); // toggle pane1 classes
   $pane1.next('.pane2').removeClass('hide').addClass('display'); //toggle pane2 classes

Shuffling colors in an array to 5 divs jQuery

hop of those help? You are setting array of colors but background need single value not array moreover you need to set it on each separately.
Try like this
var colors = ['red', 'blue', 'green', 'black', 'pink'];
var i = 0;
$(".circle").each(function() {
    $(this).css("background", colors[i++]);

Responsive shuffling of divs

like below fixes the issue The best way will be to create a parent div with display:flex and using flex-direction:row for bigger screens and then create a breakpoint for smaller screen and use flex-direction:column for that.
Here is an example -
<div class="parent">
  <div class="child-1"></div>
  <div class="child-2"></div>
.parent {
  flex-direction: row;

@media all and (min-width: 480px) and (max-width: 600px) {
  .parent {
    flex-direction: column;
/*Feel Free to change the screen sizes here and add browser prefixes*/

Problem on shuffling the order of created divs

To fix this issue "Some elements appear twice" means you did something wrong with the shuffle. If you can paste the full code. I don't know how you did the shuffle but try something below,
var dbUsers = firebase.database().ref('...');

dbUsers.on('value', gotData1, errData1);

function gotData1(data) {
    var users = data.val();
    var keys = Object.keys(users);

    // Shuffle 'keys' here
    shuffledKeys = shuffle(keys);

    for (var i = 0; i < keys.length; i++) {
        var k = keys[i];
        var name = users[k].name;

        var div = document.createElement('div');
        div.setAttribute('class', 'div');

        var usersPre = document.createElement('pre');
        usersPre.textContent = name;

function shuffle(array) {
    var currentIndex = array.length, randomIndex;
    var temporaryValue;

    // While there remain elements to shuffle...
    while (0 !== currentIndex) {

        // Pick a remaining element...
        randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random() * currentIndex);
        currentIndex -= 1;

        // And swap it with the current element.
        temporaryValue = array[currentIndex];
        array[currentIndex] = array[randomIndex];
        array[randomIndex] = temporaryValue;

    return array;
